Bow Down:
Kings & Queens Of Corbet’s Couloir
Hear ye, hear ye, from the slopes of the kingdom Jackson Hole, WY comes word of the newly crowned King and Queen of Corbet’s Couloir. The winners (whose lines you can watch here) backflipped into victory—and the history books (the Queen earned her title landing the first women’s backflip into the couloir).
More Women In Ski Patrol
Unsurprisingly, women are rising to the occasion (and up in rank) in a notoriously physically demanding, male-dominated field: ski patrol.
  Gearhead Take
According to Addy McCord, ski patrol director at Beaver Creek Resort in CO, women lend a certain *finesse* to a job that men tend to muscle through. Style, grace, expert skiing & trained to use explosives? These women rock.

Backcountry Sponsors
Women’s Outdoor Summit
The virtual Women’s Outdoor Summit hosted a stacked list of industry changemakers & leaders (including our own G.O.A.T. CEO Melanie Cox), for roundtables, workshops, and general stoke to get more women into the outdoor industry. We believe everyone belongs in the outdoors, which is why we were proud to be the title sponsor.
Public Land Lovers, Rejoice!
The House recently passed the Protecting America’s Wilderness and Public Lands Act, creating extra protection for about 1.5 million acres of public land, and 1,000 river miles in Arizona, Colorado, California, and Washington.
Pocket Outdoor Media
Acquires "Outside Magazine"
Emerging content company Pocket Outdoor Media recently announced its acquisition of Outside Integrated Media (home of the popular Outside Magazine). The company has entered heavy-hitter status since its inception four years ago, with 22 leading publications in its quiver. And not only did they score one of our favorite magazines, they also claimed the name.
Last Skier Standing:
Hot Tang Is For Winners
Fueled by the elixir of champions (hot Tang) and sheer stubbornness, two men skied 60 hours, and more than twice the sea-to-summit vertical gain of the 29,035-foot Mount Everest, in the Last Skier Standing event held in New Hampshire.
Envy-Inducing
Tailgate Ramen
Move over après brats, there’s a new way to tailgate: ramen. You can go big (hello grilled bok choi) or go simple depending on your stove setup or level-of-hangry. Get the endlessly customizable recipe here.
