Last week, Mark Zuckerberg, everyone’s favorite totally human tech overlord, announced that Facebook is going meta, literally. In addition to incorporating more virtual reality elements into the app’s functionality, the company is also changing its name to Meta. (Facebook’s name won’t change, though, à la Alphabet and Google.) But what is the metaverse, exactly?
