On pavement, we love Rival’s 12-speed, 10-30t cassette for powering over hills and staying in a compact 300% gear range, but on gravel—or mountainous terrain—the 10-36t cassette and its 360% range is a godsend for weary legs.

A Fitting Rear End

The new Rival AXS rear derailleur accommodates 28-36t max cog cassette sizes so you can keep a tighter gear range or build out for the steeper slopes on your route. And with AXS on board, you can also swap to the GX Eagle AXS rear derailleur for a 52t mullet-build party ride.
