It just so happens to be our absolute favorite starter card for those who are new to credit card rewards. They earn Chase Ultimate Rewards points, which can be spent in the Chase Ultimate Rewards portal for air, hotels, cruises and car rentals, or they can be transferred to over a dozen airline and hotel partners like Hyatt and United Airlines.
For the last few weeks, Chase has been running an increased offer on the bonus available to new applicants. If you’re approved, you’ll receive 80,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points when you spend $4,000 within 3 months (up from a standard bonus of 60,000 points).
If you redeem through the Chase travel portal, all points are worth 1.25 cents, so 80,000 points would be worth $1,000 in free travel.
If you redeem by transferring to airline and hotel partners, the value can be much, much higher.
