October is Employee Ownership Month! Back when Gardener’s Supply Company was just getting started, we wondered, ‘How can we set up our company to have the most positive impact on our community, on the environment, on the people we serve, and the people who work in the business?’ We looked at our ownership structure as a key way of making a long-term impact and decided to pursue employee ownership. Because as an employee-owned company we can control our core values and our destiny. We began our employee ownership journey in 1987, and have been 100% employee-owned since 2009. Being employee-owned means that we spread the value of our business across the entire company. We celebrate the good times and weather the difficult times together. And we are better able to serve our customers and communities every day. As employee-owners, we are committed to giving fellow gardeners across the country the tools to improve their world through gardening. Because now, more than ever, the world needs gardens that build on nature’s strength for the long-term health of our planet. |
