| | | | | | A POSTCARD FROM PFW: HFKG EDITION SS22 | | | | The Fashion Farm Foundation (FFF) has shone the spotlight on Hong Kong design talent since 2013. For Spring/Summer 22, HKFG invited industry insiders TO explore the collections from three of Hong Kong’s most exciting brands. Follow Jacqueline de Gorter’s lens around the City of Lights as LN-CC meets gender-fluid menswear label PONDER.ER, “ridiculous” art accessories brand PabePabe, and new luxury jewellery label VANN. | | | | | | | Born in London, made in Hong Kong and debuted in Paris, PONDER.ER’s coming out story is as multi-faceted as it’s creations. Led by two friends, PONDER.ER combines forward-thinking textile innovations with small traditional production houses in Hong Kong to craft collections that redefine men’s wardrobes and rethink the definition of masculinity itself. With one eye on gender fluidity and another on sustainability the label wields semi-sheer knits, smocked organza, hand-dyed fabrics and body-clinging fits to transform conventional menswear forms into pieces that are subversively fragile and vulnerable. | | | | | | | | | From their Hong Kong gallery and concept store, PabePabe communicate their creations and thoughts to the world by “creating strange objects''. Inspired by social issues and daily life, the brand brings a sense of humour and a strong visual perspective to their mainline of functional goods. This season, PabePabe’s ridiculous aesthetic borrows from electrical sockets, swimmers’ kickboards and the motion of dance to craft a capsule of arrestingly improbable bags. | | | | | | | | Art, fashion, craft and technology. Former film producer and art director Vann Kwok straddles all four disciplines when producing collections for her homonymous jewellery label. Taking inspiration from historical references to painting and sculpture, At the heart of each collection is an homage to the past while in pursuit of the new. The result is a bold and artistic range of statement jewellery pieces that remain comfortable and light enough for day-to-day wear. | | | | | | | | | | | | |
