Now available in all shops! JUST IN: HEDGEHOG FIBRES! | | Shake off your winter doldrums with a hefty dose of color, courtesy of Hedgehog Fibres in Sock, Merino DK and Kidsilk Lace -- now available in all shops! | | Now at Loop, Loop West and in our online shop, Hedgehog Fibres (HHF) comes to us all the way from Ireland and is, in a word, AMAZING! HHF is helmed by Beata Jezek, a Slovakian native who relocated to Cork, Ireland, where she learned to knit and eventually began dying her own yarn because, as she puts it, she sought colors and high quality yarns that simply weren't available to her at the time. (Fun fact: Jezek means "hedgehog" in Slovakian!) What makes HHF yarns unique? Let's start with the obvious: color! Every skein in the Hedgehog range is hand-dyed in a rainbow that spans dark, rich and earthy, to crazy, fluorescent and vibrant. Choose from brilliantly saturated tonals and vivid, variegated colorways featuring playful speckles that bring delight and surprise to every knitted stitch! Beyond the color, HHF yarns combine next-to-skin softness with a durable wearability you'll treasure for years! | | Hedgehog Fibres Sock is the ideal combination of color, softness and strong. Each 437 yard skein is a fingering weight blend of 90% merino wool + 10% nylon that's perfect for socks, shawls and even sweaters! | | WINTER LIGHTS SHAWL Winter Lights by Stephen West is a generously sized, semi-circular shawl featuring an interplay of 4 different HHF Sock colors to create slip stich dots, honeycomb bubbles and a wavy lace border. This shawl is simpler than it looks because only one color is worked at a time! To knit Winter Lights you'll need: | | AEQUE COWL At left, the Aeque Cowl by Hillary Smith Callis is a wonderful 1 skein project (and perfect if you're new to HHF and eager to give it a test drive!) This cozy cowl begins with one stitch and grows to mimic the look of an asymmetrical triangular shawl wrapped around the neck. To knit your own Aeque Cowl you'll need: LE POUF CARDIGAN The Le Pouf cardigan (at right) was designed by HHF's own Beata Jezek so knitters could play with their favorite shades of HHF Sock to creatively knit up their own, signature color melted cardi. Composed of simple, top-down stockinette stitching, this free cardi pattern ismeant to be worn casually open and is inclusively sized for XS-5XL. (Prefer a pullover? Check out the Le Pouf sweater!) To knit your own Le Pouf cardigan you'll need: | | Each 220 yard skein of Hedgehog Fibres Merino DK is breathtakingly soft, 100% Merino dyed in HHF's legendary colorways. This yarn is ideal for next-to-skin soft sweaters and accessories, and is also wonderful for baby items and even blankets! | | TERRA SHAWL Terra Shawl by Joji Locatelli is a crescent-shaped beauty with an undulating pattern repeat that knits up quickly using just 2 skeins of Merino DK. To knit a Terra Shawl you'll need: | | SOLDOTNA SWEATER The Soldotna sweater (at left) by Caitlin Hunter is a top-down, circular yoke sweater with stranded colorwork detailing that's simple enough for an adventurous beginner. It's a cropped design but can easily be lengthened if crops aren’t your style (instructions are included in the pattern and will impact required yardage). To knit a cropped Soldotna you'll need: BELOVED The Beloved bonnet (at right) from Tin Can Knits is a wonderful way to wrap your little ones in warmth with just 1 buttery soft, colorful skein of Merino DK (shown here in Genie).
