Felted Tweed + Kidsilk Haze = Knitting Heaven! Winter is settling in and there's nothing like a toasty hat to keep you warm. Why not knit yourself a hat that combines fun AND function? Today we're bringing you our beautiful Halo Hat pattern, which combines 2 of our favorite Rowan yarns with one of our signature pom poms to help get you through the winter with style! | | Our Halo Hat pairs Rowan's Felted Tweed and Kidsilk Haze to create a lush, hazy fabric with a dreamy, "halo" effect. As the name implies, Felted Tweed is beautifully tweedy, gently felted, DK weight blend of 50% Merino wool, 25% alpaca and 25% Viscose. It's a go-to choice for colorwork and stranded knitting that also performs fabulously when held together with a second yarn, as we've done here, to deliver the structure and warmth knitters expect from wool. Kidsilk Haze is a laceweight wonder! This blissful blend of 70% kid mohair and 30% silk is light and ethereal -- like knitting with a cloud! On its own, it will create beautifully delicate laceweight accessories but its real magic is revealed when it's carried alongside other yarns! It adds delightful dimension, fluffiness, extra softness and just a little bit of sheen, thanks to its silk content. Now that you're acquainted with these two yarns, the only question remaining is will you knit your Halo Hat with two matching colorways or will you pick two complementary colors for a soft, marled effect? Your options are endless! Colors combinations shown above L to R: grace + rose quartz, heavenly + ciel, eve green + sulfur, nectar + peach, liquer + dusk rose | | To knit our Halo Hat, you'll need: 1 skein Felted Tweed (we used Peach) 1 skein Kidsilk Haze (we used Nectar) US6 16-inch circular needles We'll gift you the pattern for free with your yarn purchase! And don't forget to top your Halo Hat with one of our signature pom poms! They're perfect for adding flair to your hats! What makes our poms better than most? They conveniently attach to your hat with a sturdy snap, meaning you can unsnap your poms when it's time to wash your hat, then snap the pom back on again later (or even swap it for a different color!) Our pom poms are stocked in a variety of colors spanning classic neutrals to exciting brights so we're sure to have a color that you'll love! | | Curious about how Felted Tweed + Kidsilk Haze play together on a larger scale? Two words: weightless warmth! Terrazzo Pullover by PetiteKnit is a cozy, top-down turtleneck that's worked in the round with plenty of positive ease for effortlessly comfy wear. Love Note by Tin Can Knits is a perennial favorite among our Loop staffers! This top-down pullover's easier-than-it-looks lace yolk detail elevates this design into something exceptionally special. The pattern spans sizes for kids through adults and because it's from Tin Can Knits, it's perfectly written to support newer sweater knitters! | | If mohair's outside your comfort zone, Felted Tweed is stunning all by itself, especially when there's color mixing involved! Vibrant Stripe by Kaffe Fassett (left) is a fantastic way to play with a variety of the luscious colors of Felted Tweed stocked at Loop and Loop West. You'll need 2 balls for the main color + 1 ball each of 10 colors to create the stunning stripes in this generously sized scarf/shawl hybrid.
