NEW YEAR, NEW SOCKS!

Every once in a while, we find a printed sock yarn that we can't resist -- and this year, we found two!

Today we're bringing you an inside look at Paint and Watercolor Sock, two sock yarns from Laines du Nord that encourage you to relax and knit a matching pair of socks while letting the yarn do all the color work for you!

PAINT SOCK

If you like your socks stripey, Paint Sock is the yarn for you!

Paint Sock is a fingering weight yarn that magically self-stripes as you knit, alternating a solid neutral with a gradient wash of color that meanders from one color to another. The overall effect is slightly heathered for a beautifully rustic look.

And because this yarn is a light and lofty blend of 75% wool and 25% nylon, Paint knits up into warm and long-wearing socks.

Paint comes in a generously sized 458-yard ball, giving you plenty of yarn to knit a gorgeously striped, matching pair of socks!

WATERCOLOR SOCK

If you're a fan of gradient knitting, you'll love Watercolor Sock!

Watercolor Sock is dyed in beautiful gradients, making plain stockinette socks the perfect canvas for this yarn's watercolor-style color shifts. It's truly addictive to watch one color melt into the next with each stitch!

Watercolor Sock is a blend of 75% wool and 25% nylon. It comes conveniently pre-wound on ready-to-knit, 458-yard cones. One cone makes one pair!

Watercolor Sock makes it easy to knit matching socks. The colorway has a long repeat for those who prefer to knit one sock at a time, while more adventuresome knitters can cast on for two at a time using the magic loop style and get a perfect match.

SOCK PATTERNS

Laines du Nord recommends using this yarn to knit socks with a toe-up, short-row heel style. Sock patterns with afterthought heels also work well and don't interrupt Paint's stripes!

These are some of our favorite pattern ideas:

Toe-Up Socks with a Difference - a free, toe-up sock pattern from Wendy Johnson that has a traditional heel flap.

Vanilla Socks with Gusset and Choice of Heel - a free pattern with "choose your own adventure" heel from Jo Torr.

Smooth Operator Socks - a highly detailed pattern for toe-up socks with a short-row, afterthought heel from Susan Anderson.

RESTOCKS!

Much yarn has been making its way back onto our shelves in the past week!
