Hi there,
It’s Monday again. We’re okay with it. We’re feeling a bit sunnier this week than last. Maybe it's the beginnings of the crocuses in the tiny garden on the corner of our block. Or the over-zealous bulldog absolutely losing his mind at a blowing paper bag. Either way, here are some links for you, depending on where you are:
If mentally, you’re walking through a grove of olive trees in Mallorca:
- You could get some bright Castelvetrano olives and tangy feta. You could slice scallions, toss them in a pan with some olive oil, and fry them with lemon peel and garlic. Pop the pits out of the olives, crumble the feta, and drain some chickpeas. Toss this all with some greens, and then pour the seasoned oil and fried scallions over everything. That’s how we do it at least, but the full recipe is here. The end product is delicious, but it will also make your kitchen smell like olives and lemons, which is what we want from Mallorca.
If mentally, you would like one little thing to be easier:
- Like perfectly al dente pasta: Barilla makes playlists for the exact length of time needed to cook particular types. Hit play when you start to boil your bucatini, and you’ll be ready to eat when the music ends.
- Like never scrambling for the mute / unmute icon on Zoom: push the spacebar down to temporarily unmute yourself.
- Like knowing, once and for all, if that avocado is ripe: tap the end of your nose and the end of the avocado. They should be around the same firmness.
If mentally, you would like to set something on fire:
- You could look at the work of Emma Bennett, who sort of does that, but with melodramatic elegance.
- You could light a particularly satisfying candle. If it’s raining, you could put the candle near the window, so that the flicker catches the droplets in an excellent balance. Put the candle out before you fall asleep.
Warmly,
The M.M. Team
P.S. A live look at us today, if we were Frank Gehry and we still carried a briefcase:
