Naming your boat? 4 Things to Remember

From: Sport Fishing - Saturday Jul 23,2022 07:02 pm

When it comes to showing off your brand new (or new to you) Sea Chaser, having the perfect name for your new boat is the ultimate flex. The ideal name should show everyone on the water a glimpse of your spirit, personality, and who you are as a boat owner.

But before you start stenciling "Keepin’ It REEL" on the side of your boat, we’ve got a few things for you to consider first.

1: Keep it simple.

Your boat’s name should be full-bodied enough to convey your essence as a captain but short enough to say over the VHF radio.

2: Do your research.

Try to be unique by ditching the clichés. Search vessel names on the United States Coast Guard Site to see if anyone you like is already registered.

3: Pun it up.

The funnier its name, the more memorable it will be.

4: It’s bad luck to rename your boat.

Gather a party aboard and go through a renaming ceremony!
