| | | | | | | | | | CHELSEA IN BLOOM | | All week, Chelsea has been abuzz with visitors to the prestigious annual floral art show Chelsea in Bloom. This year, London’s largest festival of flowers was based on the theme of British Icons. We chose Sir David Attenborough as our icon, he is a true inspiration.
“If we make the right decisions at this critical moment, we can safeguard our planet’s ecosystems, its extraordinary biodiversity, and all its inhabitants. What happens next is up to every one of us.” Sir David Attenborough | | | | | | | | | A message from our founders:
This year, we really wanted to celebrate Chelsea in Bloom, and our icon, in a way that felt authentic to the whole Strathberry family. My wife Leeanne and I are both passionate about making decisions, where possible, that can contribute to a more positive future for all. Here, instead of working with single-use flowers, we have created a little corner of Scottish woodland in our King’s Road store, leaving us to put the majority of our intended budget into planting real woodland and vital hedgerows.
This planting will take place at Dumfries House, part of The Prince’s Foundation, in south west Scotland.
Rather than use any resources on external consultants, Leeanne and I have worked alongside our team members to create this. This is very much a Team Strathberry labour of love. Where options (and our knowledge!) allowed, we have used trees appropriate for a Scottish woodland. We have tried to choose flowers that can be replanted, and support pollinators. Everything in this window will be planted. Inside, visitors will hear a soundscape from a Scottish forest. We very much hope that our little display will encourage people to support planting of trees and hedgerows, which after all is an investment in all our futures. We just genuinely felt, and with the spirit of our icon in mind, that this was our most authentic way to celebrate Chelsea in Bloom 2022.
As a way to connect our hometown to our community in Chelsea, our beautiful butterflies have been painted by classes P4 and P5 at St George’s School in Edinburgh. A huge thank you; we love them!
