Everyone knows that knives are one of the most important survival tools.

Some knives are better suited for survival than others… and it’s because of something called the “tang.”
The tang is how much of the blade that extends into the handle of the knife.
With a full tang knife, the metal from the blade extends all the way through the handle…
Which provides extra stability and durability for the knife.
In contrast, some knives only have a half tang or even no tang at all.
Now, you might be wondering…
If full tang is better, why don’t all knives have a full tang?
Well, there are two reasons for that…
The first is that full tang blades use more metal and therefore are more expensive.
And the second is that it’s impossible for a folding knife to be full tang because the tang stops where it folds.
Now, we're not saying folding knives are bad...
In fact, they definitely deserve a spot in your bug-out bag.
But what we are saying is that you should also have a full tang knife just in case.
They just hold up better.
