And they’re warning that the EPA’s stringent new emissions standards could have “catastrophic” consequences and leave our food supply “dead in the water.”
The goal of these new regulations is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by transitioning all heavy-duty trucks to electric vehicles – and will apply to all trucks as soon as 2027.
Citing a laundry list of concerns – from astronomical costs to lack of infrastructure to lack of testing to reduced driving range and payload – truckers have argued the EPA’s new standards are impractical if not impossible.
Especially on such a short timeline.
They warn that if these new regulations stand, they will result in “severe economic disruptions.”
