Yesterday was the vernal equinox, otherwise known as the first day of spring! Unlike the solstices, which mark either the longest day or longest night of the year, an equinox marks the two moments each year when the sun is exactly above the celestial equator and day and night are equal. The vernal equinox is especially exciting for us because it means that not only is the weather about to get gorgeous in rainy ol' Oregon, but we're also getting closer to planting season! Once we get past the equinox, we'll start experiencing more than 12 hours of sunlight each day. When we get to ~14 hours of sunlight at the beginning of May, we'll start the process of getting plants ready for the field, as young cannabis plants need long, sun-filled days to support their vegetative growth.
