Famed trichologist Philip Kinglsey was the original authority on hair and scalp health. His clients included Audrey Hepburn, and his product line garnered a legitimate cult following over the years. When the VIOLET LAB got wind that the renowned brand (now helmed by Kingsley’s daughter) was set to debut a new collection of products, we were intrigued. When we heard that said collection is designed to prevent hair loss and deliver a style that looks lifted and full of life, we couldn’t wait to get our hands on the formulas. Our first trial: the Density Thickening Shampoo and Conditioner.

Specifically designed for fine, thinning, or fragile hair, this treatment duo uses a unique and relatively new technology called hyper-branched polymers to lift hair at the roots and beef up strands. (For our fellow science geeks, hyper-branched polymers are novel because they are flat when wet and transform during drying into a hexagonal shape to give flat hair a boost.) Not only did the duo deliver on the volumizing claims, but our hair stayed soft, shiny, and manageable when dry, which is not always the case with root-boosting or hair-thickening formulas. Impressed with the results, we were eager to get this cleansing system in the hands—and on the heads—of the Committee of Industry Experts for their approval.
