A fluffy feature | | We love talking to interesting groups, doing interesting things. In rural Buckinghamshire, we meet Animal Antiks, a working farm with a difference. | |
| | | | | | Left to Right: Sioux, Jack, Sarah, Frankie, Ieuan, Tom. | |
| What does Animal Antiks do? | | Sarah: Animal Antiks uses animals and farm life to assist with therapy and education. Our alpaca walks are particularly popular. We run four each week. |
| | | | What are the benefits of the alpaca walks? | | Frankie: It kind of changes as the group get to know each other. At the beginning, the alpacas are a distraction. They give people something to focus on so they’re less likely to feel anxious or stressed. Then the alpacas become a talking point. Groups often start off closed and quiet. By the end, they’re organising coffee meet-ups. There’s a turning point. |
| | | | Sarah: Looking after alpacas is not for everyone. Some people enjoy the gardening, or getting involved with the farm machinery. We offer different activities to different people with the common thread of being outside. Out in the fresh air, everyone starts to relax and begins to decompress, which is so important. |
