| | What happens when a choir of 200 transform a church into the scenes and songs of Love Actually? You discover genuine and unwavering community that is, actually, all around. Meet Some Voices. | |
| | | | | | What’s your Some Voices journey?
Greg: I sing in the shower and I don’t think I’m a very good singer. But I like to sing really loudly and it makes me happy. So I wanted to join a choir where it didn’t matter and I could blend in and have fun.
Vicky: I can’t actually remember how many years I’ve been part of it. Probably about 10. I enjoyed singing, stumbled into this and thought I’m never leaving.
Georgia: My resolution post pandemic was I wanted to sing as I hadn’t for years and I found them on YouTube and thought ‘that’s it, that’s the one’. Six months later, I started working for them.
| | What makes the choir so special?
Louise: If you want to come and sing with a group of 200 people, it’s very freeing. You can belt it out like you would in the shower and know no one is listening to just your voice. It’s all the voices together.
Doulla: You get such a high. Oh my gosh.
Josh: When you first say you’re in a choir, people say ‘oh’ and assume you mean church music or old music and then you’re like ‘it’s not quite it’. You have to see it to understand it, or even better, be in it.
Dave: There is a lot of love. I know we sing ‘all you need is love’ but there is. Genuinely.
| | | | What would you say to someone thinking of joining?
Georgia: There’s no such thing as good enough. If you enjoy singing, you can sing.
Paul: Take a leap. All you need to do is join in and before you know, you feel part of a community.
