With almost 24 hours of light during Icelandic summer, the opportunities to explore are endless. You can experience the brightness of the midnight sun in Iceland between mid-May until mid-August.

The peak of Iceland's midnight sun is around the summer solstice, usually the 21st of June. That is when the sun peaks and produces the longest day of the year. For around three hours of twilight, the sun sits just below the horizon and delivers lingering natural light.

We explored the summer solstice in Hrísey where our newest photoshoot was shot during the summer solstice on the 21st of June.

A music workshop that was hosted for children in the community center in Þingeyri located in the Westfjords of Iceland. The workshop was held by Bríet, Rubin, and Gaukur. Bríet is currently one of Iceland’s most popular singers, Rubin plays guitar for the band Kaleo with Gaukur, who plays many instruments. The goal of the workshop was to make a game out of making music and to show the children the joy in it, that it can be a spark that lasts a lifetime.

A song called Three to Two Turtles was composed and performed, at the end of the workshop, on the big stage in Lára's garden in Þingeyri.

Read more about the workshop in our latest Norður journal which also includes a video with a sneak peak of the song that was produced.
