In a true Hollywood moment, I first discovered Le Labo’s Santal 26 scent when my late husband and I were attending the housewarming party of the one and only Jenny from the Block. The mansion was all that one might expect—endless crystal chandeliers, champagne velvet sofas, silk carpets, dozens of tightly arranged white roses, and what appeared to be silver leafing on every available surface. The scent in the house was the thing, though; perfect, warm, welcoming. By Monday morning, I had Le Labo’s founders on the phone in Paris, dropped JLo’s name, and convinced them to make a candle for our little shop on Melrose Place. I explained to them that we have the most discerning customers in the world, and they would absolutely love their candles.
