Duo + Elizabeth Smith Knits!

Summer is beginning to wind down (sigh!), and now's the time to start casting on for transitional knits, otherwise known as the garments and accessories that you'll wear from the end of summer through mid-autumn - and again in spring!

One of our favorite transitional designers is Elizabeth Smith. She's created a library of timeless knitwear designs accessible to all skill sets, and each of her knits has a fun detail that keeps it interesting! 

Today we're bringing you 3 transitional garments that will make great use of Sandnes Garn Duo, a 3-season, machine washable blend of buttery merino and cotton that we stock at Loop in Center City and online. It's a match tailor-made to take you through the fall in style!

SUMMER SOUNDTRACK

We love the idea of knitting Elizabeth's lightweight Summer Soundtrack in Duo, which we carry in a rainbow of 18 glorious colors that are a delight to mix and match!

This DK version of her original, heavier weight Soundtrack sweater is an ideal layering piece for fall. It's worked seamlessly from the bottom up and uses an addictive slip stitch method to achieve its signature colorwork.

To knit your own Summer Soundtrack, you'll need:

• 4-8 skeins of Duo in color A*
• 4-7 skeins of Duo in color B*
• US 5 32" circular needle
• US 4 16" circular needle
• Stitch markers
• Tapestry needle
• Summer Soundtrack pattern

CRUEL SUMMER

Cruel Summer is a breezy, dolman-sleeve layering cardigan perfect for popping over a tank or tee. It's knit seamlessly from the bottom up and features a lace mesh stitch pattern along the hem and front bands. 

To knit Cruel Summer, you'll need:

• 6-13 skeins of Duo, depending on your chosen size
• US 6 32" circular needle
• Stitch markers
• Tapestry needle
• Cruel Summer pattern

COMING HOME

Cozy Coming Home proves there is beauty in simplicity! Choose either scarf or wrap size and knit this stylish and easy to memorize neck warmer that's comprised of garter stitch punctuated by bands of easy lace.  

To knit Coming Home, you'll need

• 6 skeins of Duo
• US 7 32" circular needle
• Tapestry needle
• Coming Home pattern

We're taking a break for some summer R+R! Please plan your knits accordingly! ;)
