Introducing Brooklyn Tweed: Tones!

There is a new Brooklyn Tweed yarn in the shop! We are pleased to introduce you to Tones, the latest addition to the BT lineup.

Tones is all about color! The Tones range is made up of 12 colors in two shades each: an overtone and an undertone. Each Tones colorway begins with either a light or dark base that's dyed to create "tone pairs" of harmonious shades.

Choose an overtone for a clear, bright version of the hue, or its undertone for a deeper, heathered variation. Create knits using these color duos, or mix + match across multiple colorways!

Tones are a 3-ply, woolen-spun designed for loft and stitch definition. It's a smooth, round yarn that knits into the soft, durable fabric that you will be wearing for many seasons to come!

Like all Brooklyn Tweed yarns, Tones are 100% American-made. The Columbia wool is sourced in Wyoming, scoured in Texas, base dyed in Philadelphia, spun in Wisconsin, then skeined and overdyed in Philadelphia.

Tones are available in all shops! 

The versatile First Raglan Sweater is tailormade for Tones and serves as a friendly introduction to garment knitting. This wardrobe staple is knit top-down knitting with clean, raglan shaping. 

It also has a companion pattern that enables you to customize this sweater with your favorite fit - from blousy and modern to fitted and classic. Two additional options let you knit either balloon sleeves or traditional slim fit sleeves. 

Knit this cozy sweater in your favorite Tones shade or pick 2 (or more!) of your color faves to create a striped sweater that's all your own! 

To knit a First Raglan Sweater, you'll need:

• 7-14 skeins of Tones, depending on your chosen size and style*
• US 5 + US 7 16" circular needles
• US 5 + US 7 32" circular needles
• US 5 DPNs
• Stitch markers
• Tapestry Needle
• Pattern - this pattern is free with purchase 7 or more skeins to make the sweater. We will send you the coupon code with your order.

A new design for Tones, the Sparkwood Hat is dense and richly textured with thick honeycomb and cabled ropes. This pattern is written for two sizes and lets you opt for either a standard beanie or watch cap with a folded brim. 

To knit Sparkwood, you'll need:

• 2 skeins of Tones
• US 3 + US 5 16" circular needles
• US 5 DPNs
• Cable Needle
• Sparkwood Pattern

As soon as we received Tones, Laura cast on STAT. With an overtone & undertone pairing in mind, stripes were a natural choice! The result is the Purl Ridge Scarf!

This quick knitting scarf uses two colors of Tones, two skeins each. This simple 4-row pattern is knit on the bias creating a generous, cheerful scarf ideal for holiday knitting!
